15. Cole Fuchs- Chapter 6 (04/21/2023)
When reading chapter 6 I noticed that there was a chart that described the causes and effects of large scale agricultural and domestic farming. I realized to a new scale that if people weren't so greedy then many of the problems wouldn't be happening. If we were more lenient on the supply and what nature offers us then we wouldn't have half the pollution and natural food droughts and disasters that we have had in our world and throughout history. For example the dust bowl. If humans switched out crops more and didn't drain them of all the nutrients by growing the same thing over and over again then the disaster probably wouldn't have been as bad as the soil would have been more compacted due to still having lots of weight and not losing all its moisture and nutrients to over growing the same crop year and year again. This would stop economic failure in the crop and farming industry as it would still producing great crops without losing as much profit as the best money making crops they can grow at the time. In reality I feel like it would work in farming too. if there were less cows and other animals bunched together it wouldn't cause as big of a problem with too much waste and over grazing as the land would have time to recover and absorb the natural waste produced. Due to the insane amount of animals bunched together on many property's it causes problems that only harm ourselves in the long run just for a small amount of large success which hurt us too much in the future.
