7. Cole Fuchs - In class reading (4/4/2023)
In Chapter 3 it talks about the Origins of Environmental Problems and how it can be difficult for many people to do something significant and how many people feel as they can't do much to help the environment. That part alone makes me wonder if people want to do something but are too afraid of the conflict or possible criticism that comes with it or if they say they feel bad and refuse to change or change the way they may be acting. When I say this I don't mean the people who are already doing everything they can to be more environmentally green and healthy. I'm talking about the people who are talking about how they feel bad but refuse to use less plastic, recycle, compost, or do something to change the wastefulness that the human population as a whole has caused. The chapter then talks about how humans live off the land and involved in the ecosystems. This however made me think of a leech. Because we live in the ecosystems means we should be providing back, but in the previous paragraph it talked about how we haven't. That makes the relationship between humans and the environment a parasitical one. I believe in order to say that we live with the land we need to provide back and be less wasteful and give back to the environment by replanting the plants destroyed for resources or space. However we don't see this much and I feel like this needs to be changed or we wont have any plants or any resources later on in life.
