Chapter 2 of Humans in the Landscape

After analyzing this reading from class and speaking on numerous topics within class discussion I had a personal affiliation while reading this section of the book. Chapter two mentions the beauty of the natural landscape and how the landscape can be viewed from different points of view such as paintings. I remember when I was in elementary school I took a field trip to the Brandywine River Museum, which contained a gallery of paintings that focused on the local landscape of the Brandywine river area, describing the history and beauty of the local area. The artist made a great description of paintings that focused strongly on the power of the local Brandywine River that gave humans the appreciation of the landscape. I made this connection since it reminded my strongly of the Hudson River School paintings that were brought up in Chapter two of the reading. One of my biggest questions was if people back then were really impacted by the paintings of the landscape such as we are today.
